PHP Symfony Developer

We at Brokercloud are looking for extra enthusiastic technology wizards to join our team in scaling up our cutting edge InsurTech platform. Junior, medior and senior positions are available.

With our BMS (Broker Management System), we service hundreds of insurance brokers daily, managing millions of contracts and making sure the platform keeps running 24/7 for all our users, while regularly adding new features and connecting with new external data providers.

If you are looking for a job in terms of a simple Windows workstation with a basic Xampp, phpMyAdmin, MySQL setup, scroll further.

At Brokercloud we only talk to our massive 5 MariaDB AWS cluster setup by terminal/SSH. we run Linux or Ubuntu on our workstations, apply full-page SQL queries for optimizations and manage hundreds of web hooks and other APIs to several load-balanced AWS application servers on an AWS architecture of our own design.

Our core technology is built on Symfony with external API connections to several other platforms and technology providers.

Depending on your seniority level, you will be in charge of data imports, code refactoring, extending our API libraries, adding new features and researching new technologies and third party service providers.

You:

  • are fluent in English (knowing Dutch is a plus but not mandatory)
  • can prove some development experience, either by a previous job or self study
  • have experience in Symfony, Laravel or other related frameworks
  • MariaDB and SQL optimizations don’t scare you
  • are familiar with Lamp stack setups and know how to configure, optimize and keep your Apache secure
  • are passionate about technology and eager to learn, with a broad interest in programming in general, networking, web services, mobile platforms, third party frameworks, etc.
  • are able to write clear code and keep your code well-documented
  • are proficient in understanding code versioning tools, such as Git or SVN
  • are able to work with Jira and Confluence and are able to interpret bug reports

We like you even more when you:

  • have knowledge of several front end and/or Async technologies (Angular, Vue, React, Jquery, …)
  • know your way around AWS or Azure
  • are familiar with DB index optimizations
  • are familiar with other server types or technologies (Nginx, NodeJS, Reverse proxies, memCache, Redis, …)
